Before Christmas, every day in December a different class sells cookies and cakes that are made by them. The students and teachers can buy them for a little amount of money. The money that they earn is sent to the poor, for example, an orphanage in Transylvania.
It is a programme that was invented by an ex-student of the Líceum and to this day a lot of teams from our school participate every year. It is held on a Friday night and the teams travel to a mountain or a hiking place and they hike all night. They have to go to checkpoints, do tasks and collect as many points as they can. In the morning they get food and the team that finishes first with the most points gets a certificate.
It is a tradition that the school organizes every autumn on a Friday night. Students stay in the school after classes and prepare for the matches, which take place from 6 pm Friday night to 6 am on Saturday. There are buffets where students make the food. It is a friendly competition but everyone takes it seriously and goes for the trophy.
At the beginning of February, before Lent Season begins, every class has to perform a short scene about a specific theme, and in the end the judges vote and the first 3 groups get prizes. At the end or the beginning of every school year (or sometimes twice) the students take a trip with their classes and head teachers. Each class goes to a different place in Hungary. They go hiking, learning more about Hungarian culture and bonding with their classmates.
Every October the school organizes an afternoon for the new students (the 7th graders and the new 9th graders). The freshmen have to perform a short scene in front of the whole school. The theme of their performance and the costumes they are wearing are determined by the 10th and the 9th graders. Every freshman has to wear green ears, (a sign of their immaturity) which are usually cut out of paper. After the performances they have to take part in challenges and when they are done they take an oath and get initiated into the school community. It is a kind of rite of passage.
Before Easter there are two days when we don't study or have regular classes. We usually watch an educational film and after that we talk about it in smaller groups and prepare spiritually for Easter. Teachers also have retreat days twice a school year, when they travel somewhere to recharge and study the Word of God. On these days, students take time off school.
Every May the English teachers plan a weekend where the students who attend are not allowed to speak any other language besides English. There are several programs such as hiking, sports, games and worship.

For one day some students go to Vienna before Christmas, where they visit museums and have free time to look around the city. In the evening they go to the Christmas fair and after that they travel back home by bus.

There is a small town in Finland that is pretty similar to Gödöllő - it is set in beautiful scenery, there is a university, and also a Christian school - our partner. Finnish schools are really different from ours, and our students saw it in June 2022. This trip was funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program.
On this day we celebrate Hungarian traditions, dress up in folk dresses and we dance a lot to good live Hungarian music. Also, we can take part in a huge variety of traditional peasant’s games and handcrafts such as bread baking, basket weaving, embroidery, felting, carpentry and archery
At the beginning of summer the Math teachers of the school organize a camp for the freshmen who’ve applied to learn math on a higher level. The students can meet some of their future classmates. They play games, sports and practice math. Also, every August there is a camp for all the new students and their parents, where they can meet all of the kids who they will spend their next six or four years with and learn about our school.
Every year the 12th graders have a special ball in autumn, before which they have a church ceremony where they get a ribbon with the school's name. This special ribbon is worn by every senior of high school in Hungary all year until their school-leaving ceremony. The graduates perform two dances that they have been rehearsing, one is a fun dance with classmates and the other is a fancy waltz where the girls wear gorgeous, white dresses.
